A couple of years ago I discovered Ocean State Job Lot, a close-out store that’s got a surprisingly good grocery selection. And that includes, for some reason or another, a strangely big selection of Bob’s Red Mill products for a lower price than regular stores. While doing errands with my mother the other day, I noticed that an Ocean State Job Lot has now opened in Westgate Plaza on Central Avenue in Albany. I was psyched to find all these goodies for a grand total of around $15.
Gluten-free Maple Sunrise cereal, GF Sesmark multigrain crackers, GF oatmeal-chocolate chip cookies, organic body lotion, a package of Bob’s Red Mill GF pizza crust mix and a can of sardines for my boy.
OSJL is kind of a hidden gem. Most of the clothing/housewares are not things I want, but you can get decent spices, big things of olive oil and apparently, gluten-free foods, for much better prices than the regular grocery store. You just have to be willing to wade through a little junk to get to the better stuff. There are also local locations in Schenectady, Ballston Spa and Kinderhook.
The Christmas Tree Shop (in Colonie Center) also has Bob’s Red Mill products at great prices!
LOVE Ocean State Job Lot here in Maine! Don’t forget all the corn pasta – it is excellent (though the macaroni is best for hot dishes rather than chilled salad). But for Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free products I don’t think you can beat Amazon.
I moved from Keene NH to Gardner Mass and was so happy that I no longer had to travel to Walpole NH to get cheaper G free foods from OSJL. They have a great selection, especially for random g free things I hadn’t seen before and the pasta prices are amazing. Very happy that I am right down the road.
