current obsession: Talenti sea salt caramel gelato

I’m enamored with this gelato, as my title implies. It is so freaking delicious — buttery and creamy with a touch of saltiness. The base is delicious as is, but then there are also little chocolate covered caramels embedded inside. Most of the flavors of Talenti sorbets and gelatos that I’ve had have been incredibly good, but so far, this one takes the cake. Most flavors are also gluten-free, but make sure to check the side of the container — the company is very good about labeling and labels all the GF flavors as such. The only flavor I know of that is not gluten-free is the caramel cookie crunch, but there may be others.

┬áIt’s not cheap, of course, but it’s so worth it. Locally, I’ve gotten it at the Whole Foods in Santa Cruz, but I know they also carry the brand at the Honest Weight Food Co-op in Albany, along with some Hannaford supermarkets and Cardona’s.

    One benefit of sea salt over table salt is that it contains less sodium overall. Table salt is highly refined and what is left after this refining process is almost pure sodium chloride.
