oscar’s potluck

My girl Albany Jane beat me to the chase, but last weekend we hosted an Oscars’ themed potluck at my house.

I’m a sucker for a pun, so the only requirement was that you had to give your dish a movie pun name. It ended up being a lot of fun, and we had a great turnout.

I made a delicious Thai black rice salad that I called “The Postman Always Brings Rice.” I also made a quick “Mystic (Polenta) Pizza.”

AJ made GF spinach noodles for an “Escape from L.A. sagna.” My roommate Bennett made two awesome things of hummus for “Hummus, I Shrunk the Chips.”

There was also a very tasty chicken “Liver and Let Die pate,” thanks to Laura and Bennett, which I happily ate with rice crackers. Oh and plenty of “Grape Expectation,” aka wine.

Of course, not everything was gluten-free, but I just love having people over for potlucks. The actual Oscars’ ceremony was nowhere near as fun…

Other wickedly awesome pun-foods included:
“Avatart,” a blueberry tart
“A Dish Called Wanda,” baked ziti
“Quiche of the Titans”
“Cool Hand Cuke” dip
“The Lovely Bones” chicken wings
“Dude where’s my chard?” swiss chard and spinach tart
“Last Mango in Paris,” a dish with mango, brie and puff pastry, thanks to my other awesome roommate, Lauren
“Half-Baked ziti”
“While You Were Steeping” iced tea

It sounds like so much fun, I am sorry to have missed it. When Mrs. Fussy isn’t teaching on M,W,F my social calendar is going to open up a bit. And of course before next semester, there is the summer.

Hope to be able to make the next one.

Sorry, didn’t mean to jump you! I had such a great time, though. Thank you again for hosting it.

And that rice, man. Good stuff, good stuff.
